Around the World with Yellow Wood

January: The Wyoming & Idaho Edition

Featuring: Chelsey Knuth – The Wisconsinista

Working in our shop, we get the enviable opportunity to hear about the incredible adventures our customers embark upon. We hear the feedback of commonly-visited sites and get insider recommendations on lesser-known destinations.

We had the absolute pleasure of meeting Chelsey K., broadly known as The Wisconsinista for the first time at our first joint hike with Women Hiking Wisconsin this past October. She was lovely enough to tell us about her recent adventure to Wyoming and Idaho.

Where did you travel?

My dad, brother, and I spent a week in Wyoming and Idaho exploring the area around Grand Teton National Park.

What was the coolest thing you saw or did there?

We took a snowmobile tour through the mountains and forest! It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done.

What is one thing you wish you knew before you went?

I wish I had known that the company we rented skis from was going to deliver them to our condo... we ended up driving 30 minutes to their corporate office just to get a call from them saying they were waiting at our place!

What's one item you absolutely couldn't have done the trip without?

My winter jacket! It's a bright green puffball of a thing that went out of style shortly after I received it as a gift ten years ago, but if it does the job, I might as well keep wearing it.

Anything else you'd like to share about your trip?

Skiing at Jackson Hole is absolutely amazing, but if you're looking for a more affordable and less crowded option, I highly recommend Grand Targhee Resort. It is on the west side of the Tetons in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest and is a secluded paradise. It was actually my favorite of the three places we stayed and skied during the trip.
